Charity ride for animals

A Broughton Moor man will cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in memory of his dog.

Jim Forsyth, 67, a supply teacher at Stainburn School in Workington, is a keen cyclist and is also involved in West Cumbria Animal Concern, which is moving from its Northside home to a new premises near Egremont.

He said: “My dog Meg, a Labrador cross, died last year. She was over 16 and had been a fantastic pet. We did a lot of fell walking together and I miss her greatly.”

He said he wanted to do something for Animal Concern and decided to undertake the bike ride in Meg’s name.

Mr Forsyth will leave for his journey at the end of this month. He estimates that it will take 17 days including 4 rest days.

He has already raised £1,000 but hopes to add to that total. To sponsor him, visit
